Yolanda Jeffries’ Takeaways From Scaling Her Operations Across Three States

Please introduce yourself.

I embody the best of both worlds for my clients. As a real estate agent with an MBA, my extensive finance background makes me a numbers expert while my deep knowledge of Chicago and the south suburban neighborhoods, as well as Northwest Indiana, and Atlanta make me an invaluable partner to have by your side in the purchase or sale of your home. I am licensed in Illinois, Indiana, and Georgia, and I have teams in all 3 states! There are 7 people on my team. I’ve recently been awarded Chicago Association of Realtors’ TOP TEAM Producer for 2021 and Top Neighborhood Producer for 2021. I also received Coldwell Banker Realty’s President Circle award, which is an elite producer honor for top performing agents in the company.

How did you get started in the real estate business?

I started back in 2017 when I wanted to sell my own home. My first house ended up becoming a short sale during the market crash. I got my real estate license to short sell my home because agent after agent that I sought out couldn’t sell it. So, being the boss lady that I am, I took matters into my own hands by getting licensed and selling my own home.

What are some hot markets for real estate that you are excited about?

Due to COVID-19, all markets are hot markets because everyone needs a place to stay in.

How do you source your real estate deals?

I have a huge network of people so my deals come from brand awareness and sphere of influence/referrals.

What are some checks and balances you’ve put in place to protect your real estate transactions?

I protect my customers at all costs. Making sure they are happy is my number one priority.

What is one piece of advice you would give someone starting their real estate career?

Stay focused and on point because real estate can be a whirlwind and only the strongest and most focused will survive.

What is one software you use for your business and recommend to others?

Canva and Ripl are must-have tools for marketing.

What is your superpower in life?

I am really strong with understanding numbers. Real estate is messed up when they let a finance girl through the door. I love negotiating deals and creating winning solutions for my clients.

What is a failure you’ve had in life that set you up for eventual success?

Always budget correctly and save. You can’t make a lot of debt for yourself In this industry.

What is one book that has influenced your life the most? Why?

The Grit.
